FAQ
Is there a free alternative to Loom?
Yes. Typort records your screen, your camera, or both, on Mac and Windows. Recording on your own computer is free forever, with no limit on how many videos you make or how long they run.
How many videos does Loom's free plan allow?
Up to 25 videos per person, each up to 5 minutes long, at up to 720p, according to Loom's pricing page. Typort has no video limit and records in 1080p.
Where do my recordings go?
The share link is on by default, so when you stop you have a link to send, and anyone can watch it in their browser. Share links run on Typort's servers and are free for a limited time and will move to Typort Pro later. Prefer to keep one to yourself? One click on the padlock and that recording stays on your computer only. Every recording is also saved as an MP4 file.
Does Typort work on a Mac?
Yes. Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 14.4 or later. macOS asks for Screen Recording permission the first time you record.
