FAQ

Is there a free alternative to Otter?

Yes. Typort records your meetings and, by default, turns them into a transcript on your own computer, for free, with no minute limit. AI notes are optional: they run on Typort's servers and are free for a limited time and will move to Typort Pro later.

How many minutes does Otter's free plan include?

300 transcription minutes a month, and at most 30 minutes per conversation, according to Otter's pricing page. Typort has no minute limit.

Does Otter work offline?

Not for transcription. Otter's help center says that with no network connection it starts uploading and transcribing once a connection is detected. By default, Typort turns your call into text on your own computer, so it works offline.

Does Typort work on a Mac?

Yes. Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 14.4 or later. On a Mac, meetings record your microphone for now, so the transcript is your side of the call.
